Daniela Serna investiga y crea sobre el tránsito que se produce entre el objeto verbal de origen literario y el artefacto visual de carácter plástico y estético. Su obra expande la idea de la literatura formal, donde las dimensiones temporales y sensoriales se experimentan en la imaginación del lector, para proponer poemas visuales en los cuales propicia una experiencia de sentido que amplifica o diluye los límites de lo posible. En esta reseña se abordan un conjunto de obras, cuyo eje (...) central permite múltiples lecturas, tamizadas por una reserva de signos ideológicos, políticos y estéticos en los cuales la artista inscribe su obra, y que permiten interrogar la relación entre el mundo ficcional representado y la representación que el lector/espectador realiza. The present text aims at commenting the doctoral thesis A recepção do pensamento de Nietzsche na obra literária de Dalcídio Jurandir - submitted by Oclécio das Chagas Lacerda at the School of Philosophy, Arts and Human Sciences of the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) in 2022 - in light of two main themes developed by it: the “anthropophagic” interpretation of Nietzsche’s critique on Christian nihilism and the Amazon meaning derived from it.

The present paper aims at investigating the meaning and scope of the idea of musical dissonance in The Birth of Tragedy. In reviewing the possible explanatory definitions of this concept, within and outside the speculative-theoretical framework proper to Nietzsche’s first book, we hope to open a path that leads us to rethink the so-called “artist metaphysics”, and, specially, what is generally understood as Dionysian music.

Este artigo trata do lugar de Palestrina no primeiro período da filosofia de Nietzsche. Na tentativa de situar o célebre compositor renascentista no seio de algumas observações articuladas pelo filósofo alemão, mostrar-se-á, qual instigante e invulgar problemática acerca da origem da linguagempode, a partir de tal registro teórico, vir à tona.

O presente artigo conta investigar o processo de constituição da estética musical a partir da teoria da arte elaborada por F. W. J. von Schelling. Para tanto, espera-se mostrar a maneira pela qual o filósofo alemão procura redimensionar as bases que davam sustentação à chamada estética sistemática para, a partir de uma ponderação extremamente inovadora, caracterizar a música como um objeto original de saber.

O propósito geral deste artigo consiste em mostrar, a partir de hipóteses globais de interpretação da natureza e da arte, o lugar da pintura na filosofia de F. W. J. v. Schelling. Submetendo a obra pictórica a condições teórico-especulativas inovadoras, a ponderação schellinguiana impele-nos, não raro, a um tratamento diferenciado do visível. Por isso, a título de exercício de reflexão, espera-se igualmente indicar que tal caracterização da pintura ecoa e antecipa, ao longe, questões levantadas pela filosofia contemporânea – em especial, (...) pela fenomenologia – a respeito da imagem. El arquitecto sevillano Fernando Rosales, cuya vida profesional se desarrolló a caballo entre los siglos xviii y xix, fue uno de los más activos maestros mayores de obras de la Iglesia de Sevilla. De carácter afable, tuvo sin embargo algunos sonoros desencuentros con el arquitecto José Echamorro, que aquí se exponen. Y al igual que ocurrió a sus compañeros en el cargo, la Real Academia de San Fernando rechazó sus proyectos enviados a dicha institución. Eclipsada por la de (...) Antonio de Figueroa y José Álvarez, el estudio monográfico de su obra está aún por abordar. Este trabajo pretende contribuir a su conocimiento, mediante la aportación de numerosas noticias inéditas, tanto biográficas como profesionales, algunas de las cuales subsanan persistentes errores historiográficos, contextualizándolas entre sus más conocidas realizaciones. In this paper we discuss two approaches to the axiomatization of scientific theories in the context of the so called semantic approach, according to which (roughly) a theory can be seen as a class of models. The two approaches are associated respectively to Suppes’ and to da Costa and Chuaqui’s works. We argue that theories can be developed both in a way more akin to the usual mathematical practice (Suppes), in an informal set theoretical environment, writing the set theoretical predicate (...) in the language of set theory itself or, more rigorously (da Costa and Chuaqui), by employing formal languages that help us in writing the postulates to define a class of structures. Both approaches are called internal , for we work within a mathematical framework, here taken to be first-order ZFC. We contrast these approaches with an external one, here discussed briefly. We argue that each one has its strong and weak points, whose discussion is relevant for the philosophical foundations of science. (shrink)

In this paper, gathering several topics present in the work of Newton da Costa, we propose a rigorous foundation for a possible formulation of scientific theories according to the semantic approach. Following da Costa, as a first step we develop a general theory of structures; inside this theory we show how we can characterize formal languages as particular kinds of structures, more specifically, as free algebras. Next we discuss how we can link a language to a structure, with which we (...) can formulate the axioms that are intended to capture the theory of the structure. Emotional intelligence is a psychological skill that aids athletes in the control of emotions and optimization of sports performance. The present study investigated the psychometric properties of the Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test in 508 Brazilian youth and adult athletes. Data analysis was conducted through Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Cronbach’s alpha, composite reliability and Pearson’s Correlation. EFA revealed the one-factor model with 26 items with the best adjustment. CFA confirmed the one-factor model with 26 items with best greater fit. No (...) evidence of invariance was found, suggesting that the SSEIT must be used with caution when comparing gender and age groups. The external validity was found in the correlation of EI and cognitive anxiety and self-confidence. It is concluded that the Brazilian version of SSEIT for the sports context presented acceptable psychometric properties, however, showed limitations that should be explored in the future. (shrink)

Background: Serious games have shown positive results in increasing motivation, adherence to treatment and strengthening the therapeutic alliance in multiple psychiatric disorders. In particular, patients with impulse control disorders and other disorders in which the patient suffers from inhibitory control deficits have been shown to benefit from serious games.Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics and to evaluate the usability of a new serious videogame, e-Estesia. This serious videogame was designed to improve emotion regulation in patients (...) with gambling disorder. Preliminary results from a pilot sample are also reported.Method: A pilot sample of 26 patients undergoing treatment for GD was recruited. Participants used e-Estesia on a tablet, which was connected to a thoracic band that sent heart rate and heart rate variability data to the videogame platform in order to provide biofeedback. The System Usability Scale was completed by patients to determine the usability of e-Estesia.Results and Discussion: e-Estesia performed comparatively well for all the explored groups. Around 84.6% of the patients endorsed that it was easy to use. Female patients with GD presented higher HRV during the use of the serious videogame compared to men. (shrink)

José Álvarez fue uno de los más activos maestros mayores de obras de la archidiócesis sevillana del XVIII. Contemporánea de Pedro de Silva, Ambrosio y Antonio de Figueroa y Fernando Rosales, alternó los encargos del Cabildo eclesiástico con los del Arzobispado, siendo estos últimos los que le otorgaron mayor prestigio. Basta citar algunos de los templos que construyó para comprender la magnitud de sus realizaciones. Sorprendentemente, su obra no había merecido aún la edición de una monografía, debido quizá a (...) la falta de noticias biográficas más allá de la de su origen onubense. Este trabajo pretende subsanar dicho vacío, documentando por vez primera su nacimiento y fallecimiento, su reducido círculo familiar, su autoría sobre relevantes obras eclesiales y repasando cronológicamente su actividad profesional. Todo ello para poner en valor la figura de uno de los grandes nombres de la arquitectura tardo-barroca sevillana. (shrink)

A obra reúne ensaios sobre diversos temas e conceitos presentes no pensamento foucaultiano, desde os mais conhecidos, como humanismo, ética, violência, sujeição e poder, até aqueles sobre os quais os estudiosos costumam se debruçar com menor frequência, caso dos escritos do filósofo francês sobre as artes plásticas, o cinema, a literatura e a música. O tratamento dado a esses temas revela como por trás (...) de sua pulverização e da aparente desconexão entre eles há uma obra caracterizada pela versatilidade e transversalidade de um pensador dedicado a compreender como o homem se tornou aquilo que é. Structural priming is a powerful method to inform linguistic theories. We argue that this method extends nicely beyond syntax to theories of meaning. Priming, however, should still be seen as only one of the tools available for linguistic data collection. Specifically, because priming can occur at different, potentially conflicting levels, it cannot detect every aspect of linguistic representations.

En este texto abordamos la problemática de las fuentes existentes y sus metodologías de análisis para el estudio de las grandes revueltas de esclavos de la República romana. Nuestro objetivo consiste en dilucidar cuáles son los diferentes tipos de fuentes que disponemos y sus estados de conservación; señalar las dificultades y posibilidades heurísticas que presentan; y analizarlas desde un punto de vista historiográfico. Si bien la mayoría de ellas, y las literarias en su totalidad, provienen de la élite ciudadana, y, (...) en consecuencia, expresan el punto de vista de los vencedores, hostil a la revuelta servil, e implican parcialidad, distorsión y ocultamiento en el registro histórico, argumentamos que no conviene exagerar su sesgo como un factor limitante del conocimiento de los hechos. Pues, por una parte, resulta posible extraer de las fuentes narrativas información valiosa sobre los esclavos rebeldes; por otra, también se conservan algunas fuentes materiales elaboradas por estos últimos. In Frege’s logicism, numbers are logical objects in the sense that they are extensions of certain concepts. Frege’s logical system is inconsistent, but Richard Heck showed that its restriction to predicative quantification is consistent. This predicative fragment is, nevertheless, too weak to develop arithmetic. In this paper, I will consider an extension of Heck’s system with impredicative quantifiers. In this extended system, both predicative and impredicative quantifiers co-exist but it is only permissible to take extensions of concepts formulated in the (...) predicative fragment of the language. This system is consistent. Moreover, it proves the principle of reducibility applied to concepts true of only finitely many objects. With the aid of this form of reducibility, it is possible to develop arithmetic in a thoroughly Fregean way. (shrink)

We introduce a herbrandized functional interpretation of a first-order semi-intuitionistic extension of Heyting Arithmetic and study its main properties. We then extend the interpretation to a certain system of second-order arithmetic which includes a (classically false) formulation of the FAN principle and weak König's lemma. It is shown that any first-order formula provable in this system is classically true. It is perhaps worthy of note that, in our interpretation, second-order variables are interpreted by finite sets of natural numbers.

En este artículo se presenta un análisis de la confianza como un proceso de elección racional, poniéndese en cuestión la capacidad de la teoría de la elección racional estándar para dar cuenta del fenómeno. Por eso se prefiere abordar la confianza desde la perspectiva de la racionalidad limitada.

There is no systematic knowledge about how individuals with Locked-in Syndrome experience their situation. A phenomenology of LIS, in the sense of a description of subjective experience as lived by the ill persons themselves, does not yet exist as an organized endeavor. The present article takes a step in that direction by reviewing various materials and making some suggestions. First-person narratives provide the most important sources, but very few have been discussed. LIS barely appears in bioethics and neuroethics. Research on (...) Quality of Life provides relevant information, one questionnaire study explores the sense of personal continuity in LIS patients, and LIS has been used as a test case of theories in “embodied cognition” and to explore issues in the phenomenology of illness and communication. A systematic phenomenology of LIS would draw on these different areas: while some deal directly with subjective experience, others throw light on its psychological, sociocultural and materials conditions. Such an undertaking can contribute to the improvement of care and QOL, and help inform philosophical questions, such as those concerning the properties that define persons, the conditions of their identity and continuity, or the dynamics of embodiment and intersubjectivity. The control principle implies that people should not feel guilt for outcomes beyond their control. Yet, the so-called ‘agent and observer puzzles’ in philosophy demonstrate that people waver in their commitment to the control principle when reflecting on accidental outcomes. In the context of car accidents involving conventional or autonomous vehicles, Study 1 established that judgments of responsibility are most strongly associated with expressions of guilt–over and above other negative emotions, such as sadness, remorse or anger. Studies 2 and 3 (...) then confirmed that, while people generally endorse the control principle, and deny that occupants in an AV should feel guilt when involved in an accident, they nevertheless ascribe guilt to those same occupants. Study 3 also uncovered novel implications of the observer puzzle in the legal context: Passengers in an AV were seen as more legally liable than either passengers in a conventional vehicle, or even their drivers–especially when participants were prompted to reflect on the passengers’ affective experience of guilt. Our findings document an important conflict–in the context of AV accidents–between people’s prescriptive reasoning about responsibility and guilt on one hand, and their counter-normative experience of guilt on the other, with apparent implications for liability decisions. Hobbes se constituye en el momento clave del giro copernicano (...) de la cuestión, con su idea convencional de justicia. Luego el utilitarista Hume elabora las llamadas ¿circunstancias de la justicia¿, también convencionales, argumentación que influirá finalmente en Rawls en su idea de ¿sociedad bien ordenada¿. Con relativa frecuencia el pensamiento de Martin Heidegger es presentado como el de un crítico exacerbado contra la ciencia. Esa crítica es puesta bajo sospecha por su participación política en el nacionalsocialismo y es tachada, en muchos casos sin fundamento alguno, de reaccionaria, de suponer un paso atrás en la línea del progreso. Sin embargo, el propio Heidegger muestra que no hay nada más alejado de la realidad: Su pretensión no es anular la ciencia, sino reconducirla, servir de faro para (...) todas las ciencias, sin distinción entre ciencias de la naturaleza y ciencias del espíritu. El propósito heideggeriano es establecer una suerte de pre-ciencia que sirva para orientar a todas las ciencias (sean de la naturaleza o del espíritu). Este estudio pretende exponer como esa pre-ciencia sirve de guía para la ciencia y como puede convertirse en un puente que sirva para unir las dos orillas de la ciencia. (shrink)
